Barriers to oxygen and ammonia
The permeability of PVC and mPE films was determined using a test that allowed each to oxidize and deoxidize. The results showed that the mPE film was the most permeable to oxygen (about 3 times better than PVC). It was also the most permeable to ammonia (about 1.5 times better than PVC), and the PVC film had the lowest permeability.
Physical Properties of mPE and EVA Films
The mechanical properties of the mPE and EVA films were determined following the ASTM methods. Tensile strength, elongation, toughness, modulus and tear resistance were evaluated for each film.
Hot Pressing of PVC-Eucalyptus Veneer Composite Laminates through Perforation and Punching
The perforation of the PVC films was used to accelerate heat transfer from the embossed surface to the wood veneer during the hot pressing process. Compared with un-perforated films, the perforation of the PVC films significantly reduced the hot pressing time of the plywood laminates by 51 s. This resulted in a significant reduction in production costs for the company and improved productivity.
